Transformation Thursday: Krista Florio

You know those moments when you're scrolling Instagram then you see something that literally makes your jaw drop? Mmm hmm, so do we. The ladies of Studio Poise all caught a glimpse at the amazing transformation Krista Florio has undergone and we had get her to share her story ASAP. Krista has been a member of Poise Nation since the summer and she's been a force to be reckoned with ! Congrats on your success, Krista, we know this is just the beginning of a fantastic new chapter in your healthy life.

It is safe to say that of all us come to Studio Pose for a reason – to be the best version of ourselves. Unfortunately, prior to joining Studio Poise, I did not know who that best version was anymore.

All my life I struggled with weight. Growing up in an Italian household, bread was served with every dinner, and there was no such thing as “moderation.” My parents would make comments that I was packing on the pounds and to get on a diet, but instead of that motivating me, it just encouraged me to eat more. Throughout the years, I have tried my fair share of gyms, workout tapes, and incorporated that with some sort of fad diet that was cool that year. I was perpetually on a mission to get the pounds off.

I did lose weight – 90lbs to be exact by age 22 but it wasn’t the healthy way.  I went from a size 18 to a size 4. I was very all or nothing, depriving myself of most foods, and working out to burn more calories then I would take in. It was exhausting and unhealthy.  This “lifestyle” ultimately led me to packing on 60lbs and I I couldn’t seem to take it off. It didn’t help that over the past year, a lot of transitions happened. My boyfriend and I purchased our first home, got a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog, started an MBA program, and changed jobs. The everyday stressors had me in such a funk that I coped by eating take out, drinking beers, and kept myself sane by taking anti-anxiety medication.

THEN I came across Studio Poise from a Groupon! If anyone knows me they know I live off of Groupon. I was hesitant but ultimately decided to try it out. Five classes in and I was obsessed! I found my niche, my people. The instructors, the community, and the atmosphere just spoke to me.  There was no judgement, classes were diverse and super challenging, and I actually made some pretty good friends in the process! I found myself eventually planning my days around what classes at Studio Poise I planned on taking. My favorite classes at SP are either Janie's SPiit (no one does a burpee marathon like Janie!), Arms and Ab(noxious) with Chrissy or Body by Bradley with Danielle. Leaving class thoroughly exhausted and sore is the best feeling I can think of! I currently take about 6-7 classes a week and hold myself accountable by weekly weigh ins every Friday. Don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE food and I still make room for the things I love on the weekend! Moderation is key.

I have only been with Studio Poise for about 4 months and have already lost roughly 30lbs. Not only that, but my energy levels have shot through the roof, I feel so much more confident, and I am completely free of anxiety medication! This place has literally changed my life and I am so thankful!
