For today's Transformation Thursday, meet Elyse Fannon. Elyse recently marked her one-year "Poise-a-versary" and to celebrate, we wanted to highlight all that she has accomplished in the past year. Read on to learn more about Elyse's journey!
I am a total foodie and I have always loved beer and hated exercise. This lifestyle worked fine for me until a few years ago. As an auditor, I was working 60 hour weeks during tax season, eating fast food for lunch and take-out for dinner until my pants literally could not button anymore. My solution for this was to buy bigger pants and join Planet Fitness. In the 3 years that I had a membership to Planet Fitness, I probably went there 15 times total and so I didn’t see any results. I always used my hectic work schedule as an excuse to avoid the gym.
I switched careers in December 2012, which gave me a lot more free time. Instead of going to the gym, I spent my free time eating and relaxing. I finally hit rock bottom when my doctor had the “weight gain” talk with me. She explained that I had been consistently gaining 5 pounds a year for the past 3 years and that if I didn’t change my lifestyle now, it would only get more difficult from there. My cholesterol was through the roof and I refused to go back on medication to reduce it. I had to change my ways!
This was when I saw the Amazon Local deal for Studio Poise. My sister-in-law and I bought the 10 class package. We took our first Poise-Fusion class with Lindsey on April 1st. I fell in love with the studio that first night, but couldn’t walk for the next 4 days. I knew this was exactly the butt-kicking my body needed. My goal was to lose 10 pounds before putting on my Maid of Honor dress at my best friend’s wedding in September. Before I knew it, I was trying all kinds of classes and signing up for the Unlimited Membership. I lost 12 pounds just by exercising! One week before my best friend’s wedding, I had my dress taken in several inches. I had hit my goal!
Now, at a year with the studio, you will find me at SP 6 days a week, doubling up most nights. Instead of making excuses to skip the gym I find myself saying, “I’m already going to one class tonight, I might as well do two!”
I love that every class is different and brings new challenges. I never get bored with the workouts. The workouts don’t get easier, you just get better at them! Everyone in SP Nation is so positive and encouraging. In less than a year I have dropped the weight that my doctor suggested and have naturally lowered my cholesterol to a normal healthy level, for the first time in 8 years. Thank you SP!!!!
