Food Fridays - Shakeology

So Shakeology has been a pretty hot topic recently at the studio and we couldn’t be happier about it because it means people are focusing on bettering themselves.  So what is it?

Its actually kind of funny how bringing Shakeology to Studio Poise came one of our last meetings an instructress was talking about this “new thing” that was so amazing and left her feeling ‘great’, that we all had to try.  A few other instructresses jumped in and said they had been doing it for awhile and were loving it.  Here we are a convo of about 4 girls and we’re all doing this and loving it.  So why aren’t we sharing this?  We want everyone to know about it and have the opportunity to feel this way!

Without further ado - lets get into it.

What is it?

So the shake itself is made up of all the nutrients, vitamins, proteins and minerals your body needs - all natural, NOTHING artificial - dried in different ways to keep their integrity.  It’s the healthiest meal of the day!

Why do we need it?

When people “diet” (though we dislike that word around here), they tend to immediately cut their calories - that’s not the right move because a portion of those calories are needed to fuel your body to supply you the energy to get through your workouts.  So you end up being tired, cranky, hungry, and craving sugars and carbs.  Pair this with our tendencies to reach for whats quick and easy -  processed food (packaged food and fast food) as opposed to fresh fruits and veggies - and we’re literally running our bodies on empty.

What does replacing 1 meal a day with Shakeology do for me:

People who have replaced 1 meal a day with Shakeology paired with cleaner eating and a moderate exercise routine (which everyone reading this is already killing!!) have been dropping lbs.  And its a collaborative result of the following:

  • Reduce junk food cravings – drink it in the morning to enjoy this benefit throughout the day

    • The proteins and healthy fats will help you feel fuller longer, so you're less likely to snack.

  • Increase your energy and feel healthier.

I did Shakeology years ago, and just treated it as any old protein powder...added some water and ice and called it a day so eventually got bored.  In my recent attempts to find the “perfect” meal supplement additive to my fruit and veggie smoothies, I revisited Shakeology and quickly found it was by far my favorite - the ingredients, the energy, the regularity, its perfect and actually tastes delicious! I kind of fell into Shakeology but I am SO GLAD I did.  As a busy Mom and Instructress I am always running at 100mph and was never eating full meals.  (I like the term MOMbie - an exhausted mother that feeds on coffee and survives on wine).  It's hard to take the time to make that healthy meal for yourself so I always picked at the ends of my daughter’s food.  Toddler food is sneaky because those tiny bites add up to a TON of calories.  Now I’ve taken control of my own food “issues” and have a shake for lunch.  I swear I've never felt better.  I am more energized, snacking less and the physical results I’m seeing are just an amazing additive. ~ Becky P

I have been using Shakeology as a part of my diet for about 4 years. It is now a healthy habit for me to have a shake a day. I start my day with shakeology and it keeps me wanting to eat healthy throughout the day. Chocolate with water and ice blended with a small amount of peppermint extract (think thin mint cookie) is my favorite. I feel my best when I eat clean and drinking shakeology always makes that possible. ~ Diana D.

I must admit, I was hesitant to try Shakeology at first. Protein brands that I had previously tried always tasted chalky or were too harsh on my sensitive stomach. I didn't feel like I was getting enough of the nutrients my body needed and I was often skipping breakfast because of my busy lifestyle. After speaking with Becky I ordered the Shakeology Jumpstart package. I started drinking a shake for breakfast daily and I was immediately hooked and feeling great! I love the ingredients in Shakeology, reading the back I'm like okay this is a really solid product, no scary stuff I can't pronounce.
I feel like I'm more regular though that sounds weird, tmi? Lol
And I feel more energized, I drink less coffee! I have only needed one cup when usually I would be having 3 cups by 2PM and then needing another.
Most of all it keeps me full which keeps me motivated. I'm not so hungry that I binge eat. Everything is in moderation. ~ Candi M.
